What is Go?
Go (or Golang) is a programming language developed by Google. It compiles to fast, small programs and is strong at handling many tasks at once. That makes it popular for APIs, microservices and data processing.
Why Go?
High performance
Fast processing with low memory use, even under heavy load.
Easy to deploy
One compact file without dependencies. Ideal for containers.
Strong in concurrency
Handling many requests at once is built into the core of the language.
What we use it for
- AHigh-performance APIs
- BMicroservices
- CData and import pipelines
- DBackground processes and workers
When do you choose Go?
Choose Go when speed, scalability and low server costs matter, for example for APIs with a lot of traffic.
Go or Rust?
Go is simple, quick to develop in and more than fast enough for almost any API. We use Rust when it comes down to the last few milliseconds or heavy computation. For most services, Go is the sensible choice.
